S.T.E.A.M. Coding Class Woodville Public Library’s coding classes give students the opportunity to explore technology, robotics, creativity, and problem-solving in a fun, hands-on environment. Each year builds on the skills students have learned before, allowing them to grow more confident as they continue through the program. First-year students begin with Scratch coding and work with Ozobots and Pyxel robots to learn basic coding concepts. Second-year students continue building their skills by working with Dot and Dash robots. Third-year students are introduced to JavaScript through Bitsbox, where they begin creating their own digital projects. Students in fourth year and above complete new projects each year that help them continue advancing their knowledge. These projects may include building robots, creating games, designing introductions for television shows, working with robotic arms, and exploring more advanced technology skills. Storm Shelter Locations Addresses Woodville High School: 270 County Road 63 Woodville, AL 35776 231 Hodges Street Woodville, AL 35776 The town has two storm shelters, one located at the school and one on Hodges Street. In case of severe weather capable of producing tornadic activity, the shelters are open for the public's use and safety. The storm shelter on Hodges Street has had its locking mechanism modified to require manual activation from within, ensuring that any locked condition can only be attributed to the presence of an occupant inside the shelter. 05/29/2024

Parks and Recreation Finding Inspiration in Every Turn The Woodville Parks and Recreation Board exists to help maintain the Bob Jones Community Center, Methodist Chapel, Barbershop, and Woodville Town Park, while also hosting fundraisers and community events to bring the town together and ensure that Woodville is a great place to visit. Meet the Parks and Recreation Board Board President My name is Beverly Cosby. I am the manager of the Woodville Dollar General and Woodville Public Library Board President. The Town of Woodville has been my home since 1987, and I love the community here. I am excited to the be the Board President for the Woodville Parks and Recreation Board, and I am looking forward to seeing what kind of growth the board can help bring to Woodville in the years to come. Currently, I attend the University of Kentucky (online) where I am studying for my Master in Library Science, but I received my Bachelor in Criminal Justice from American Public University System in 2019. Community Events Woodville Public Library hosts a variety of community events throughout the year for all ages to enjoy. From monthly Bingo nights and community yard sales to our yearly Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Carnival, Halloween Night Trick-or-Treating, Ring in the New Year event, and Back-to-School Splash, there is always something fun happening at the library. We also offer special activities during spring and fall break, giving families a welcoming place to gather, celebrate, play, and make memories together. Here's what's going on... Bingo Bingo is held once monthly on a Friday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The proceeds go to help the library host different events Want to earn free tickets? Bring an item for the lirbary's food pantry or essentials pantry and earn a free card per item Game Day The library hosts game day at least once a month, but during the summer, the library is going to host game day every Friday from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. (unless a bingo game is planned and then it will be moved to the Saturday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. after bingo) Also happening...
