Meeting Procedures Outlined below are the meeting procedures to be followed during all council meetings. Meeting Procedures The Woodville Town Council Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at the Bob Jones Community Center. The work session begins at 6:00 p.m. with the council meeting immediately following that. In order to have a meeting, a quorum must be present, which consists of at least three council members and the mayor or mayor pro-tempore as provided by Section 11-43-48 of the Code of the Alabama. All meetings, unless an executive session, are open to the public. Meeting Procedures (continued) In order to be able to speak at a Town of Woodville Council Meeting, the person wanting to speak must register to do so by 12:00 p.m. on the Friday preceding the upcoming Tuesday meeting. Registration can be completed by either visiting the Woodville Town Hall or completing a registration form under the Agenda Registration page. Unless registered for the agenda, visitors are to remain silent during ongoing business unless addressed by the mayor or a town council member.

Parks and Recreation Finding Inspiration in Every Turn The Woodville Parks and Recreation Board exists to help maintain the Bob Jones Community Center, Methodist Chapel, Barbershop, and Woodville Town Park, while also hosting fundraisers and community events to bring the town together and ensure that Woodville is a great place to visit. Meet the Parks and Recreation Board Board President My name is Beverly Cosby. I am the manager of the Woodville Dollar General and Woodville Public Library Board President. The Town of Woodville has been my home since 1987, and I love the community here. I am excited to the be the Board President for the Woodville Parks and Recreation Board, and I am looking forward to seeing what kind of growth the board can help bring to Woodville in the years to come. Vice President Jenn enjoys historical things and the beautiful scenery we have here in Woodville! Secretary My name is Alyssa Cosby, and I have been the Library Director since September of 2021. Currently, I attend the University of Kentucky (online) where I am studying for my Master in Library Science, but I received my Bachelor in Criminal Justice from American Public University System in 2019. I am a Class of 2014 Woodville Alum, as well as an original senior and Founder of Panthers Always Living Strong (P.A.L.S.). I have lived in Woodville for the majority of my life, and I am happy to be able to now serve on the Parks and Recreation Board and help Woodville continue to grow and offer more for its citizens. Woodville's Historic Museum Have you ever wanted to see what Woodville was like through the years, who made the town what it was and is, and how it changed through the years? Visit Woodville's Historic Museum to learn all of this and more. History Starting when the town was originally settled in 1815, the Woodville Historic Museum houses original documents, pictures, and memorable of its earlier settlers in order to let everyone see what 'Old Woodville' was like. Originally, the building the museum is in was a mercantile built in 1909 for Mr. J.R. Kennamer's business, but before the late Congressman Robert E. Jones retired, he purchased the building and later donated it to the town to be used as a community center. From there, the Bob Jones Community Center was established and then renovated to its current state in order for the building to also house the museum. The town of Woodville, AL was established in 1815 by Henry Derrick. It was named after two of the older residents, Richard and Annie Wood and is located in the Southwestern corner of Jackson County. It is the oldest town within Jackson County, with Jackson County officially having been created on December 13, 1819, which was a day before the State of Alabama was established. However, for a short time, Woodville was also elected to be the county seat for Decatur County. Decatur County briefly covered part of what is now Jackson County from 1821 to 1825, when Decatur County was abolished and Woodville once again became a part of Jackson County. Today, Woodville is a growing continuously, adding new businesses and offering services to its citizens in the hopes of staying a town that is full of activity. From the early days, Woodville had several committed citizens that brought businesses into the town, creating atmospheres where everyone felt welcome. From barbershops, salons, and gas stations to saw mills, doctor's offices, and hotels, Woodville evolved into a town that tried to offer everything its larger counterparts would. Now, Woodville has several businesses that serve the town, including Dollar General, the Woodville Health Clinic, Miller Welding, and White Peake's Farmer's Market that are newer to the area. In the future, Woodville hopes to continue to grow, offering more for its citizens to do and benefit from. Storm Shelter Locations Addresses Woodville High School: 270 County Road 63 Woodville, AL 35776 231 Hodges Street Woodville, AL 35776 The town has two storm shelters, one located at the school and one on Hodges Street. In case of severe weather capable of producing tornadic activity, the shelters are open for the public's use and safety. The storm shelter on Hodges Street has had its locking mechanism modified to require manual activation from within, ensuring that any locked condition can only be attributed to the presence of an occupant inside the shelter. 05/29/2024
