    Woodville Public Library Reading Takes You To New Places Our Story The Woodville Public Library was established in October of 1984 and has been in its current building since 1989. The library is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Throughout the week and month, the library hosts various events for its patrons to partake in and have a good time: After hours, the library hosts coding classes for students in third through twelfth grade that have signed-up Preschool Reading is every Tuesday at 10:30 Senior Citizen Game Day at 11:00 on Thursdays; the first Thursday of the month is reserved for Bingo! Lego Club from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. once a month Adult and Teen Book Clubs once monthly Meet The Librarian and Library Board Members Library Director My name is Alyssa Cosby, and I have been the Library Director since September of 2021. I have my MLIS that I received from the University of Kentucky in 2024 and my BS in Criminal Justice from APLS that I received in 2019. I am Class of 2014 Woodville Alum, as well as an original senior and Founder of Panthers Always Living Strong (P.A.L.S.). I have lived in Woodville for the majority of my life, and I am happy to be able to work in the community and connect with everyone here. Board Chair My name is Beverly Cosby. I have been on the library board in various capacities since 2017, serving first as a member, then vice-president, and now president since 2019. I am also the Manager of Woodville's Dollar General, where I have worked for eight years though I have been with the company since 2000. The Town of Woodville has been my home since 1987, and I love the community here. Working with the library to help it host its many fundraisers and programs throughout the year is something I greatly enjoy doing. Vice-President My name is Savannah Taylor. I have been a resident of Woodville for most my life. I graduated from Woodville High School where I met my husband of sixteen years, Timon Taylor. We have three amazing kids, Jayse, Anniston and Oakley. I have been a part of the Woodville Public Library Board for three years. During that time, I have held the position of Secretary, and I am currently the Vice President. My name is Savanna Baker-Cooper. Upon graduating from Woodville High School in 2014, I moved to Madison, Al and began a career in pharmacy while attending Calhoun Community College. My husband, Cory, and I moved back to Woodville in 2019 and started a logistics business. Then, in late 2022, we welcomed our first born, Bentlee Van, into the world. I started my role on the public library board during the summer of 2022 and have loved every moment of it, especially getting to see how much thought has gone into helping our community.

    Meeting Procedures Outlined below are the meeting procedures to be followed during all council meetings. Meeting Procedures The Woodville Town Council Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at the Bob Jones Community Center. The work session begins at 6:00 p.m. with the council meeting immediately following that. In order to have a meeting, a quorum must be present, which consists of at least three council members and the mayor or mayor pro-tempore as provided by Section 11-43-48 of the Code of the Alabama. All meetings, unless an executive session, are open to the public. Meeting Procedures (continued) In order to be able to speak at a Town of Woodville Council Meeting, the person wanting to speak must register to do so by 12:00 p.m. on the Friday preceding the upcoming Tuesday meeting. Registration can be completed by either visiting the Woodville Town Hall or completing a registration form under the Agenda Registration page. Unless registered for the agenda, visitors are to remain silent during ongoing business unless addressed by the mayor or a town council member.

    To keep up with how Woodville has changed over the years and what is happening today, this site is the place to keep an eye on. Woodville's History Calming. Peaceful. Home. The town of Woodville, AL was established in 1815 by Henry Derrick. It was named after two of the older residents, Richard and Annie Wood and is located in the Southwestern corner of Jackson County. It is the oldest town within Jackson County, with Jackson County officially having been created on December 13, 1819, which was a day before the State of Alabama was established. However, for a short time, Woodville was also elected to be the county seat for Decatur County. Decatur County briefly covered part of what is now Jackson County from 1821 to 1825, when Decatur County was abolished and Woodville once again became a part of Jackson County. Today, Woodville is a growing continuously, adding new businesses and offering services to its citizens in the hopes of staying a town that is full of activity. From the early days, Woodville had several committed citizens that brought businesses into the town, creating atmospheres where everyone felt welcome. From barbershops, salons, and gas stations to saw mills, doctor's offices, and hotels, Woodville evolved into a town that tried to offer everything its larger counterparts would. In the future, Woodville hopes to continue to grow, offering more for its citizens to do and benefit from.     Woodville's Historic Museum Have you ever wanted to see what Woodville was like through the years, who made the town what it was and is, and how it changed through the years? Visit Woodville's Historic Museum to learn all of this and more. History Starting when the town was originally settled in 1815, the Woodville Historic Museum houses original documents, pictures, and memorable of its earlier settlers in order to let everyone see what 'Old Woodville' was like. Originally, the building the museum is in was a mercantile built in 1909 for Mr. J.R. Kennamer's business, but before the late Congressman Robert E. Jones retired, he purchased the building and later donated it to the town to be used as a community center. From there, the Bob Jones Community Center was established and then renovated to its current state in order for the building to also house the museum.
